Right now, we're in process for planning activities and the encampment.
At this point, we have plans for an obstacle course, and a training circle. Leatherworking, celestial navigation, and foam weaponry workshops are planned. Other workshops will be added as people step forward to lead them.
Ideas for the encampment itself:
A large shade structure/windbreak is being designed and constructed. This will cover part of the front and some of the tents. Behind the structure will be the vehicles and the evaporation pool. The front of the structure will be divided up into two primary sections. One will be the communal area, and the other will be the kitchen. The interior decor of the communal space would be a combination between martial, nomadic themed and mediterrean. This would include lots of fabric, sitting cushions, goddess symbols, and other decorative elements.
A training circle, ringed by touch lights.
The entry to the themecamp will have freestanding banners. After the banners will be the training circle, armoury (where some of the workshops will be held) and the obstacle course. After that will be the communal area and the kitchen. Beyond that will be the private camp area. In the back will be vehicles and the evaporation pool. The armoury will be clearly marked with a large banner.
Equipment for the tribe members: eskrima sticks, foam weapons, perhaps super-soakers.
More to come, including updates as equipment is volunteered...
In addition to basic equipment, we need people willing to contribute ideas and energy to the planning process. If you would like to join the tribe, visit our yahoo group or contact the webmistress.
A map of the current layout can be found here.
Our clean up plan is pretty simple. We will maintain the site during the week, picking up any MOOP that is found. The kitchen area will have tarps down to catch any stray spills. The communal area will also have floor coverings. When we break camp, the area will be broken up into sectors, and people will go through each part, raking and picking up anything that should not be there. A broom will be on hand to get any MOOP too small to pick up. A final walkthrough will be done before everyone leaves.
